Healthy Lungs for Life School Resources (2023)

I was approached by the European Lung Foundation to create some educational materials for primary and secondary school pupils. I created three sets of resources covering Air Pollution and Smoking and Vaping. The resources can all be downloaded from the European Lung Foundation’s Healthy Lungs for Life for Schools page. This was particularly urgent for vaping were there is a lack of educational materials despite the surge in young people vaping.

I used the English National Curriculum and information from the European Lung Foundation’s projects and campaigns to create a lesson plan, worksheets and PowerPoint slides for each topic. The lessons are interactive and engaging with suggested experiments, activities and projects to help young people connect to the material.

The final set of materials were reviewed by lung health specialists and trialed in a school. The full set includes:

    • Air Pollution (age 8-11)
    • Air Pollution (age 11-14)
    • Smoking and Vaping (age 11-14)

Download them on the European Lung Foundation’s Healthy Lungs for Life for Schools page.
